Yilo & Manya Krobo Health Directorates Jointly Calls For Power Restoration As Blackout Affects Quality Health Delivery In The Duo.

On Wednesday, 27th July 2022, Residents and businesses in the Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo districts experienced a total blackout and have since not been restored.

The situation heavily affected the quality of health delivery in all health facilities within these two municipalities; according to health Officials.

Pragmatically, Mrs. Irina Offei, the Municipal Director of Health Services in Yilo krobo, and Mr. Bismark Sarkodie, the Municipal Director of Health Services in Lower Manya krobo districts, jointly wrote to the Eastern Regional health directorate in Koforidua to help ascertain the issue and to find a quick solution to it.

Many public opinion leaders have applauded these health directors for such a proactive move.

Speaking to some health Officials in the Yilo krobo district hospitals, they explained that, due to the outage, they had relocated the vaccine fridges and freezers to Akorley CHIPS Compound for ice packs.

Health Officials say this has accumulated some high transportation costs since the Municipal EPI coordinator has to visit health facilities between 3 to 5 times daily.

“We spend more than two hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis ( GHC250 ) daily as additional transportation cost.” one health official worriedly said.
