Accra Great Olympics midfielder and captain Gladson Awako has allegedly informed a section of his pals that he won’t be available to face the Accra Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s capital derby at the Accra Sports Stadium.
captain Gladson Awako, 31, was a powerful influence for the Wonder Club when they defeated the Phobians 2-0 in the matchday 11 clash in the Ghanaian capital.
However, the former Phoenix Rising and TP Mazembe midfielder has reportedly told some of his best friends that he would not be available to play against Hearts of Oak on Sunday due to an international commitment with the Black Stars.
Gladson Awako is expected to leave the shores of the country together with the Ghana national team that travel to Rabat in Morocco on Sunday evening to face the Atlas Lions of Morocco in a FIFA international friendly.
Nsemk.Com has been informed that the team will depart the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday evening and the midfielder wants to avoid any potential injuries in the league game that would scamper his chances with the Black Stars. As a result he has agreed with the Olympics technical team to excuse him for that game.
Meanwhile the Wonder Club is also going to be without another key midfielder Samuel Ashie Quaye who has also travelled with the Ghana U23 team Japan for another international friendly game.
Hearts are leading the Ghana Premier League table with 49 points while Olympics are 3rd with 44 points. A win for Hearts will further widen the points gap between them and the Blue and Whites to 8 points.
