In what seems like a cynical wildfire of perpetuations sweeping across the Eastern Regional headmistresses of Ghana Education Service (GES), in less than two months, shocking allegations of massive theft and mismanagement of huge sums of school funds has hit our news desk here in Amsterdam.
The newest is Naomi Nyarkoa Abena Yeboah Abasi; headmistress of SDA Senior High School Asokore Koforidua in an alleged theft of GHC 568,040.00 meant for free SHS programme
The first involved Madame Mahela, headmistress of Akropong School For The Blind; which was sparked by a massive demonstration by blind students of Akropong School For The Blind on 14th May 2021.

Last week Sunday 6th June, i received a petition from SEDASS OLD STUDENTS ASSOCIATION, from Koforidua.
In a petition signed by the association’s vice president Evans Appiah, Naomi Nyarkoa Abena Yeboah Abasi; headmistress of SDA Senior High School Asokore Koforidua is being accused of theft and several shocking deeds that if true, should immediately attract investigation.
below are screenshot of the petition unedited.
On theft allegations, the headmistress cannot account for an amount of GHC 568,040.00 released by the government to the school in 2020 for the free SHS programme. This was a number of boarding fees of 371 students in arrears during the tenure of the former headmistress Mad. Yaa Yeoah due to residential constraint in the 2018 free SHS admissions.
On assumption of office, the headmistress refused the existing accommodation facility for the former head with the explanation that the structure was not befitting for ahead of a senior high school and therefore opted to use her family house at Oyoko as her official residence.
The school spent monies to renovate her preferred place to befit her own preferred status. She has vacated the place just after one year and has again used school funds ofGHC 15,000.00 to rent another 3-bedroom apartment. This is a clear case of causing financial loss to the school, the Free SHS programme and to the state in general...are some of the serious allegations against the headmistress Naomi Nyarkoa Abena Yeboah Abasi
